The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time - Mark Haddon I have always wanted to be able to get into the mind of another person. Do I process thoughts and images and smells and tastes like they do? Do their emotions impact them as strongly as mine do? Do their thoughts flow smoothly or are they haphazard and all over the place? Because of this, I have always loved books that make me think that someone else's brain is mine. In the way that I Never Promised You A Rose Garden took me into the mind of a young girl this book took me into the mind of Christopher John Frances Boone, a highly intelligent young man with Asperger Syndrome. The book depicts the difficulty of loving and caring for someone with a neurological disorder. Both parents choose different ways of coping, both feel regret, sadness and anger, yet find a way to love their son unconditionally. This is a very funny, sad, moving, unusual, and fascinating read. Christopher John Frances Boone is a character I will not soon forget.
